GoPro footage shows rescuers abseiling down abandoned well to save stray cat

This is a heartwarming moment a rescue team abseiled down an abandoned well to rescued a stray cat in Trang, southern Thailand.

The home owner called the emergency services after he heard the feline crying from his garden after heavy rain.

GoPro footage shows Sarayut Kanghae, 23, descending into the damp 16ft deep well to rescue the pregnant moggy.

She is believed to have fallen into the abyss the previous evening after losing her footing while it was dark and being unable to climb back out.

The frightening cat ran away immediately after it was brought up.

Sarayut said the cat was lucky that he heard its sound despite closing the well being covered.

He said: "I still don't know how the cat fell down there because I have already closed the well.

However, I'm just thankful that we could save her in time.

''She is a stray so I can't keep her as a pet, but I will leave food and milk out in the garden for her and makes sure she is safe.''
