Newswatch 12's cameron derby connects us with the head golf pro there, who helps us get better at chipping.

"stewart meadows is par 35.

It is two par-3s, one par 5, and the rest are par 4s.

This is our lone par-5.

From the back tees it plays about 500 yards.

You know the long hitters, they can get there in two.

You know, everybody hits the ball a mile but a lot of our seniors out here, it takes them three shots to get there.

It is a good finishing hole."

"now, perhaps the coolest part about stewart meadows golf course is that there is a park, playground, basketball court right across the street from here.

So, maybe the wife and kids want to go hang out at the park and you want to get a round of golf in, you get the best of both worlds over here."

"if you had a three inch putt, you can't hardly miss that because it is just back an inch and through and you knock it in.

If you have a five foot putt and the stroke gets longer, and it is tougher to putt.

So, with chipping, it is the same thing.

If you are using a sand wedge when you have the green in front of you, you are taking a longer swing to make the ball go that much further.

So, my tip is, when you have a lot of green to work with, use a 9 or an 8 iron to get the ball on the green as soon as you can and just let it roll out.

In order to do this, just choke up, play the ball a little back in your stance, have your hands slightly forward, and then just pretend
