Indian rescuers haul stranded fishermen to safety from severe flooding

This is the moment Indian rescuers hauled to safety two people who became stranded by severe flash flooding.

Gopal Mizar, 35, and Monu Biswakarma,25, had gone fishing in Sibo Korong river in Pasighat in northeastern India on July 9.

Due to overnight heavy rain, the river had already swollen but when the water level rose again suddenly, the pair were unable to get back to the bank.

A local rescue team consisting of police and firefighters raced to a bridge 70 feet above the stricken fishermen and used ropes to pull them to safety.

They were checked over by medics as a precaution, according to reports.
