Rescuer pulls out two rat snakes from 60-feet deep well in India

Residents of Gospuri village near Ahmednagar in western India spotted two rat snakes swimming inside a 60-feet well on July 2.

Akash Jadhav and his team from Wildlife Rescue Society were called to rescue the snakes.

Team member, Nawaz Shaikh was lowered down the well using a harness in an attempt to catch the reptiles.

The rat snakes, which are strong swimmers, managed to flee, forcing Nawaz to swing a few times across the well to grab the first one.

Catching the other snake proved difficult, and Nawaz waited patiently for it to get close on its own before grabbing it and climbing up.

Later, Akash and a colleague released the two snakes at a nearby forest.

He said: โ€œEyewitnesses said there were four snakes in the well.

We caught two, and the other two are probably hiding in the cracks.

We will go back and try to look for them.โ€
