Coronavirus impact: Chico State making preparations for the fall semester

In just a little over a month students at one northern california university are set to return to classes.

But as the the coronavirus pandemic shows no signs of slowing... what will that mean for back to school season?

Jafet serrato is live in chico... any contigency plans for chico state?

That's something many students i talked with are wondering about also.

Educational leaders from chico state say they will have a conference next month to discuss more specific details about fall preparations.

But... here's what i*wa* able to learn.

For fall 2020, there will be*n* changes to student fees.

There will also be*les* on campus living - meaning only 1- thousand 36 students will be housed in single rooms. that's nearly half the number of students chico state typically houses.

The university will also prioritize pick up and delivery services to continue feeding its students.

I asked one chico state student if they have any questions heading into the fall semester.

"i'm kind of wondering why we're still paying full price for tuition when a lot of the amenities are not available to us.

It's very frustrating how we don't get full time at the gym we only have limited hours.

A lot of things like the daycare isn't available but we still have to pay full price like it is available."

With the majority of classes online - chico state is offering its staff additional virtual training.

Staff will have two sessions with at least five days of training to ease into online teaching.

The fall semester for chico state here begins on august 24th.
