Job scams on rise

As if being out of work during the pandemic wasn't hard enough... the b-b-b is warning job scams are on the rise.

-10, ... the b-b-b says in april.... at the height of the pandemic.... more than ten thousand people reported being approached by scammers while looking for jobs.

A majority of those job seekers... about 65-percent... said the scammer asked them to reship packages.... giving the job title of "warehouse redistribution coordinator."

The b-b-b says these scammers often impersonate well- known retailers like amazon and walmart to appear legitimate... but what they are really having people ship are stolen items. according to the b-b-b... more than three-quarters of those job seekers who were approached by scammers lost money.

Around 53-percent of them were out of work at the time and reported being in financial crisis.
