Nightlife remains closed in Bangkok despite lockdown restrictions easing

Thailand's famous Soi Cowboy alleyway of go-go bars and strip clubs remains closed as the country continues to enforce coronavirus restrictions of high-risk businesses.

Footage from June 21 shows chains across the entrances of venues, some have closed for good, while others are being renovated.

According to local media, health officials have recorded no new locally transmitted cases of COVID-19 in almost a month, leading to thousands of business re-opening as preventative measures are eased.

Residents are required to wear face masks and use a tracking app in public buildings.

However, nightlife in Bangkok and all other cities remains closed.

Bars, nightclubs, and hostess clubs have been prevented from resuming business due to the close contact involved between staff and customers.

Ministers have not signalled when the businesses, one of the key parts of the country's tourism industry, can re-open.
