Mentally ill man killed a person in UP's police station

A mentally ill person killed a man with a spade inside a police station in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh.

The incident took place in Pratapgarh's Raniganj Police Station.

The accused is identified as Inder Pal.

Pal was arrested by the police while he was going to commit suicide at the railway track, locals grappled Pal and informed the police.

Mithai Lal and his brother were brought to the police station over a land dispute.

When Inder Pal was sitting in the police station with Mithai Lal and his brother, Pal suddenly took a spade and attacked Mithai Lal.

Lal was severely injured and rushed to Prayagraj district hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

Police have suspended three police officials for negligence.

Further investigation is underway.
