Retirement home staff forcibly removed after testing positive for Covid 19
Staff caring for retired persons at the Evergreen Retirement Home in Muizenberg were forcibly removed from the facility after testing positive for Covid 19.
Antoinette Ngciwu, a careworker at the retirement home says she was twice tested for Covid 19.
In both instances she tested positive.
She asked management to isolate her in her room at the home as she did not want to return home as she did not want to risk infecting her family.
Lorraine Moka, a community social worker, said one of the caring staff was forcibly removed after she hid in the staff quarters, after asking to be isolated in the facility instead of being sent home.
Seven of the staff have allegedly tested positive for Covid 19.
