Queues for Spanish food banks grow amid the COVD-19 economic crisis

Spanish NGOs say demand for food banks has shot up amid the economic downturn caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

A long line of masked locals could be found today (May 30th) lining up for handouts with outside the San Ramรณn Nonato Church in Madrid.

The number of unemployed in Spain has risen to 3.8 million since the outbreak of the virus with more than 548,000 jobs disappearing overnight.

Madrid Townhall also has its own programme to help those in need and is preparing food for 82,000 people in the 21 districts of the city.
