Leukemia Medication Shows Promise In Slowing Alzheimer's Disease

A medication used for treating leukemia is showing promise in reducing the effects of Alzheimer's disease.

According to a small clinical study, Nilotinib is safe and has few side effects when used at low doses.

Nearly 6 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer's disease, which is a form of dementia.

While no cure exists, drug therapy may slow disease progression in some people.

According to UPI, Nilotinib was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2007 to treat chronic myeloid leukemia.
