Tracked down by Texas Ranger Captain Frank Hamer, the infamous duo were driving a stolen car at the time.

They were killed in a barrage of gunfire as they traveled down a country road.

The complex reputation of Bonnie and Clyde had developed and grown over the course of two years.

Responsible for the deaths of 13 people, including police officers, they were regarded by law enforcement as cold-blooded killers.

The public both feared and thought of them as pair of Robin Hoods.

This reputation was solidified by the 1969 film, 'Bonnie and Clyde.'
