Over 100 Indian officials involved in effort to capture elusive cattle-killing tiger

Indian forest officials captured an elusive adult tiger, which had become a menace to several villages, near Bandipur National Park in southern India.

The adult tiger would stray out of the forest and prey on cattle.

The animal, which had killed at least 20 cattle and a goat, had created panic in the region.

Officials had been tracking the animal over the last two weeks.

The massive tiger, which moved in a vast territory of over 1,000 hectares, proved to be elusive.

On May 18, the animal was sighted near Vaddagere village and over 100 forest officials and four captive elephants started combing the area.

At 11 a.m.

On May 19, the animal was spotted at a farm and the officials successfully captured it after tranquilising it with darts.

Officials took the tiger away and said it would be released away from human habitat.
