London school makes face shields for NHS staff and key workers

Staff at Gladesmore Community School in Tottenham, north London are making face shields for NHS staff and front line key workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Footage from inside the school on Thursday (May 7) shows the manufacturing process.

Over a thousand face shields, which comply with the personal protective equipment standards, have been delivered to local care homes in Tottenham and Newham University Hospital.

According to local media, manufacturing was led by technology teacher, Colleen Jose, as staff from other subject areas tried their hands at operating equipment, including a laser cutter.
