Teens caught breaking Philippines COVID-19 lockdown by playing basketball made to throw invisible hoops

A group of teenagers allegedly caught playing basketball in violation of COVID-19 lockdown restrictions were made to throw invisible shots.

In the video, the five lads stood on the roadside while a policeman supervised their bizarre "invisible basketball" punishment.

The groups were detained after allegedly flouting coronavirus lockdown guidelines near Cogon Market in Cagayan De Oro, the Philippines on May 1.

Police said they were congregating together on a nearby basketball court, ignoring the ban on outdoor games and breaking social distancing guidelines.

Onlooker Catherine Pimentel Uy said: "It was funny to watch them repeatedly shoot the nonexistent b a l l s .

This is a wholesome way to teach the youth to follow the rules." The Philippines, one of the countries in Southeast Asia worst hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, has recorded 9,485 cases and 623 deaths as of May 5.
