Health Alert: Company makes high-tech masks for health care workers

First one is tomorrow.

.

What was going to be a high temperature super conductor business, is now on pause to help our health care workers.

Ray karam 'we put this machine shop together a week ago" .

Ray karam and his team are making air flow face shields.

Ray "these are the sheets that we cut out they were the first ones" .

In another room..... the assembly for now .....is all done by hand.

.

That includes cutting, bonding with an iron and preparing the shields for final assembly.

Eventually here's the finished product .... it's the shield with a component that goes under your chin and attached to a helmet.

It has a filter and a small blower.

Ray " which keeps a fresh air source all the time for the nurse or for the doctor to insure they have a highly filtered air that has no covid virus in it."

.

Doctors and nurses say there's a shortage.

Ray "this is specifically for medical use.

Specifically for the hospitals, and for first responders."

"this is similar t what they would have ordered but they can't get them.

So we've stepped in to help them get them."

.

During the assembly i checked it out without a mask or other safety eye protection.

John palminteri senor reporter "so this is crystal clear.... i don't need to wear glasses" .

With this medical personal see clearly and work comfortably.

The goal now is to produce equipment to produce a mask every ten seconds.

Ray "once this is done we have a design for a fully automated heat press.

You push a button and do the complete seal" .

And those working on the project are both the crew for the semi conductor company and volunteers who want to help with the urgently needed helmets.

Ray "that is the beautiful thing about a pandemic or a crisis.

People show their bright side.

They come in they contribute and they do it for the right reasons"
