A six-year-old is raising money for the NHS - by running 100 MILES

A six-year-old boy inspired by Captain Tom Moore is is raising money for the NHS -- by running a staggering 100 MILES.Luca Summers, six, has been lacing up his running shoes almost every day this month and has already plodded 50 miles on the streets around his home.He's doing the challenge with his mum Laura Summers, 34, who had been training for the London Marathon before it was cancelled.The little fundraiser has been "counting rainbows" in windows he passes to keep him going and has raised £2,900 - smashing his £1,500 target in just 48 hours.When asked who will benefit from the money, Luca from Christchurch, Bournemouth, said: "It's going to help people that hurt themselves and are in pain because of coronavirus."Mum Laura added: "We are just so proud of him."Luca got into running after I did my own London Marathon at home and when he saw Captain Tom raise money, he wondered if people would donate to him."He said he wanted to raise money for the NHS to help all the amazing staff who are looking after everyone suffering from coronavirus."Luca has always been very sporty and fiercely determined with every sport he takes on - he's a keen swimmer and also enjoys snow skiing and waterskiing!"He has taken lockdown in his stride, he has a lot of energy so we have done lots of fun activities in the garden and been keeping his day structured."The runs have definitely helped him burn some of that energy off!"We have all been so amazed with how much he has raised so far."We have always known that Luca's determination would help him hit his goals but I didn't think he would come up with such a big challenge for himself at six years old!"Luca has been in lockdown with his parents and brother Connor, 15.Laura ran her own marathon from home during lockdown and it inspired Luca to start running himself.And after seeing Captain Tom Moore raise millions for the NHS, he decided to get into fundraising himself.He has already run 50.9 miles since he started on April 1.
