Colin Kaepernick Makes $100,000 Donation to COVID-19 Relief Fund Former NFL players Colin Kaepernick recently announced the launch of a COVID-19 relief fund through the campaign he founded, Know Your Rights Camp.

Kaepernick donated an initial $100,000 to the fund, which is aimed at helping communities of color that are being “disproportionally devastated” by the virus.

As of April 20, the fund has raised more than $287,000.

According to the fund’s website, structural racism in housing, medical institutions, employment and transportation have perpetuated the issue.

Colin Kaepernick, via statement The fund will reportedly work to provide shelter, food and personal protective equipment (PPE) to those without proper access.

It will also work to help incarcerated people of color by partnering with organizations to pay bail and reduce prison populations.

In addition, the Know Your Rights Camp has partnered with the COVID Tracking Project and The Antiracist Research & Policy Center's Racial Data Tracker to provide proper information and data on how COVID-19 is unfairly affecting communities of color.
