Crowds gathering at market in the Philippines cause COVID-19 fears

Footage shows crowds flocking to a market place in the Philippines despite the coronavirus physical distancing guidelines in place to prevent the spread of the virus..

Onlooker Roberto Silverio Jr said he was also driving to get supplies for his family from the food market in Manila when he noticed the long queues on April 14.

He said: "I don't think we can prevent COVID-19 from spreading if the situation is always like this." Metro Manila is one of the most congested cities in Southeast Asia with a population or more than 12.8 million people.

Travel bans and curfew are being enforced in major regions of the Philippines to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The country has so far recorded 5,660 COVID-19 cases and 362 deaths as of April 16.
