According to Business Insider, the goal of the orders is to minimize how often people come 6 feet within one another.

About 265 million people, or 80 percent of the U.S. population, face some kind of stay-at-home order.

While “nonessential business” closures vary state by state, for the most part it refers to recreational businesses.
