Microbiology lab technician Tasha Sturm says in these unusual times they illustrate that it is vitally important we wash our hands thoroughly, and often.

Petri dishes were imprinted with handprints & bacterial life was allowed to grow for observation.

However, Tasha, of California's Cabrillo College, makes it clear that coronavirus COVID-19 *cannot* be grown using these methods.

She explains: “There are unseen organisms on your hands, and just because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there.

That is the biggest take home message from any of the images."
