Office workers screened for COVID-19 in Bangkok as country declares 'state of emergency'

Office workers have their temperature checked and are given hand sanitiser as they arrive for work in Bangkok, Thailand, this morning (March 25).

The country has introduced a 'state of emergency' with COVID-19 coronavirus cases now totallingย 934 with four deaths since the outbreak began.

Officials fear that unless strict self-distancing and isolation measures are implemented, the pandemic could ravage the country.

Building manager, Ning, said the temperature screening measures had been in place forย  Government measures to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic have been introduced including a travel ban on tourists without lab tests showing they are free of the disease, health certificates and coronavirus medical insurance.

All non-essential public-facing businesses have also been closed and it has become mandatory to wear face masks on the city's trains and subway system.
