Scholar Athlete of the Week: Camden Bender, North Posey

A familiar saying goes..

Farmers don't just work until the sun goes down..

They work until the job gets done.

In poseyville..

Camden bender fits the old addage..

As the dual sport athlete and future family farm owner works hard wherever he sets foot.

The senior viking is our latest subway scholar athlete of the week.

As the single season record holder in both assists and steals for the north posey basketball team..

Camden bender is always ready to help his teammates.

I feel like i'm pretty good at anticipating things, i kind of see the floor better than most, so being able to steal the ball and get assists just comes natural.

The point guard is an extension of the head coach, camden has an extremely high iq and he knows every play from every spot and just directs all the guys in the right spot so, just a pleasure to coach this season.

The 2x sectional baseball champ doesn't just dedicate his time to sports..

The senior viking ranked 1st in his class with a flawless gpa.

My family has always strived for me to be the best person i can possibly be.

Whether it be academics or athletics i just try to be the best person i can be.

We always say the way you do anything is the way you do everything and camden embodies that.

His approach on the court is the same in the classroom.

He's truly a competitor, he doesn't want to get beat out on a test or an assignment, he wants to be the very best and of course that's translated onto the court and onto the baseball field.

And when he's not busy in one of his two sports or hitting the books..

Bender can be found in the poseyville community.

Helping out in the big brother big sisters program along with 8 different clubs and activities.

It's just a good way to get out there and meet new people and try to help out a place that i've grown up in.

He's very driven, he's going to be a purdue boilermaker and we wish him nothing but the best there.

We know he has a very bright future ahead and we're just excited to see what camden bender is going to do in this next step of his journey.
