Much like his performance in the Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj Chopra crossed the automatic qualifying mark of 84m in his opening throw at the Paris Olympics 2024. Pakistan`s Arshad Nadeem, who is the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, also qualified for the finals with a throw of 86.59m

Neeraj Chopra hails from the village of Khandra in Panipat, Haryana. After securing his spot in the final, his father, Subhash Chopra, expressed full confidence that his son would bring joy to the entire country by winning another gold medal. He shared that he had spoken to Neeraj three days ago, and Neeraj mentioned that he was feeling physically fit and hoped to repeat his Tokyo Olympic success. Neeraj's mother, Saroj Devi, mentioned that they plan to prepare 'churma' for Prime Minister Narendra Modi again. Last time, despite their efforts, the treat did not reach him.
