Bilkis Bano Verdict: Bilkis Bano issues statement after Supreme Court verdict | Oneindia
Bilkis Bano, a survivor of one of the most brutal crimes during the 2002 Gujarat riots, expressed joy as the Supreme Court declared today a "truly the New Year" for her. The 11 men responsible for killing her family and subjecting her to gangrape are set to return to prison after the court ruled that their release last year, based on "good behaviour," was unjust. The Supreme Court emphasised that the Gujarat government's decision to release the convicts lacked thoughtful consideration, stating that only the state where the trial occurred, Maharashtra in this instance, has the authority to make such decisions. The court ordered the convicts to surrender within two weeks #BilkisBanoCase #SupremeCourtVerdict #ConvictsRelease #JusticeForBilkisBano #LegalDecision #JudicialOutcome #GujaratGovernment #HumanRights #CriminalJustice #CourtRuling #LegalSystem #BrahminsReleaseControversy #PublicOutcry #AccountabilityMatters #RuleOfLaw #SocialJustice #LegalDebate #TransparencyInJustice #BilkisBanoPetition #LegalChallenges ~HT.292~PR.152~ED.101~GR.121~
