Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a surprise midnight assault on Ukraine's Sumy region, sending missiles and drones that resulted in widespread devastation. The attack, which took place late Sunday night, targeted a residential building in the northwestern city of Sumy, 40 kilometres from the Russian border, killing at least 11 people, including two children, and injuring 89 others.
