Andhra Pradesh floods: CM Chandrababu Naidu visits Vijayawada, urges Centre to declare it 'national calamity'

CM Chandrababu Naidu on Monday also said he would request the central government to declare the flood in the state as a national calamity. At least 17 people have been killed in rain-related incidents and floods.

After heavy rains caused extensive damage in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, a respite allowed for relief operations, Andhra Pradesh reported 17 deaths and three missing in flooded areas. Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu visited the flood-affected Vijaywada to take cognizance of the situation. Ex-gratia for deceased families was raised to ₹5 lakh, with additional relief for livestock. A yellow alert remains in effect for 10+ districts.
