Day before model code kicks in, government gives last-min nod to projects

After it was known that Election Commission will announce poll dates at 3pm on Saturday, govt departments went into full throttle on Friday for last minute approval of projects and key policies before the Model Code of Conduct kicks in.Usually, departments take no major policy decisions or award new works when MCC is in force.
