8 crore Indians obese, 1 crore among them aged 5-19 years

Approximately 80 million Indians, including 10 million in the 5-19 age group, are obese. India has high rates of both underweight and obesity. Obesity rates have been increasing rapidly between 1990 and 2022. The obesogenic environment, characterized by junk food and low activity levels, exacerbates the issue.
