Hemant Soren, former chief minister of Jharkhand, declared in the state assembly that he would retire from politics if the ED can prove ownership of the 8.5 acre land in his name. He accused the BJP of targeting opposition leaders and alleged bias against tribal, dalit, and minority leaders by the central government.

Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has found himself in the middle of a legal battle. Soren was remanded to five days of Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody, following his arrest in connection with a money laundering case related to an alleged land scam. He was sent to 5-day ED custody on Friday.
