The Supreme Court on Monday, January 8, quashed orders of remissions granted to 11 convicts in the Bilkis Bano case. The top court held that the Gujarat government does not have the power to pass orders of remission. Instead, the state of Maharashtra is the court that has the power to pass orders of remission.
