Mahua Moitra Expelled: TMC leader targets Modi government on Women’s Reservation Bill | Oneindia
TMC MP Mahua Moitra has been expelled from Lok Sabha following an Ethics Committee report that held her guilty of taking bribes in exchange for criticising the government. The 49-year-old MP faces accusations of receiving cash and luxurious gifts from businessman Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for posing questions in Parliament that painted the Narendra Modi government in a negative light. Mahua Moitra has never shied away from speaking against the government in the Parliament. Let us look at some of the explosive speeches by the TMC leader. On Women’s Reservation Bill, Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra said the bill in Parliament is nothing but a jumla as it may not become a reality even in 2029 as its fruition depends on two indeterminate factors, census and delimitation. This is a sham and not a historic bill as what it is being touted, Mahua Moitra said."The question of women's reservation requires action, not the placebo of legislatively mandated procrastination."
