The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) has blocked 22 illegal betting apps and websites, including Mahadev Book and Reddyannaprestopro, following investigations by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The app's founders, currently in custody under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, allegedly earned lakhs through WhatsApp groups and call centers. ED claims Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was a direct beneficiary in the Mahadev app scam. Baghel accuses the ED of a "malicious attempt" to tarnish his image ahead of state polls.
