Dalits barred from entering temple in Tirupati district

Left with no choice, the Dalit devotees cooked "pongal" (rice-pulses dish) and offered the "prasadam" from outside the temple perimeter. Later, they staged protests and sought intervention of officials to end caste discrimination.
