No-confidence motion: Despite global headwinds, India economy doing well, Nirmala Sitharaman says in Lok Sabha

"Global economy grew just over 3 per cent in 2022 and the World Bank is now forecasting that it will decline to 2.1 per cent in 2023. Meanwhile, India's real GDP growth in 2022-23 stood at 7.2 per cent. It is projected to grow at 6.5 per cent in 2023-24," the FM said.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, whose membership was restored on Monday following a Supreme Court direction, is likely to speak in no-trust debate. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said the opposition bloc INDIA was forced to bring the no-confidence motion against the government to break Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "vow of silence" on Manipur. Initiating the debate on the motion in the Lok Sabha, Gogoi alleged that a government which talks about "one India has created two Manipurs -- one living in hills and the other in the valley".
