Delhi: Dengue control workers go on strike as cases rise in national capital

Authorities at the Municipal Corporation of Delhi have been appealing to these workers to reconsider their decision in view of the spike in dengue cases in the last few weeks.

The recent surge in dengue cases globally, including in new regions has been alarming and poses significant global health challenges. The World Health Organisation (WHO) forecasts the possibility of record-level cases this year due to global warming favouring disease-transmitting mosquitoes. Meanwhile, Delhi has been recording the highest number of dengue cases putting the national capital, which battled flood like situation due to overflowing Yamuna a couple of weeks ago, into another state of distress.
