Flash floods wash away entire village in Himachal Pradesh

Situated at an altitude of around 4,080 metres above sea level, Kholaksa village of Spiti, Himachal Pradesh witnessed nature's fury on Saturday as flash floods washed away 50 bighas of cultivable fertile land and damaged houses.

Massive destruction has been caused by flash floods in Himachal Pradesh’s tourist hotspot of Manali. Roads have been partially or fully washed away at several places due to incessant rains and floods. Landslides have also destroyed roads at many places. Several bridges have also been washed away due to flash floods, cutting off villages. Hundreds of tourists have been stranded due to roads being cut off. Internet services have also been hit and tourists say they are unable to contact their near and dear ones. Manali MLA Bhuvneshwar Goud has blamed NHAI for poor construction of roads.
