First in India: Karnataka govt to provide gig workers Rs 4 lakh life & accident cover

Presenting his 14th budget overall and first for the current Congress dispensation, chief minister and finance minister Siddaramaiah on Friday announced insurance cover of Rs 4 lakh for gig workers, perhaps a first for any state. Presenting the proposal, Siddaramaiah particularly named delivery workers in e-commerce companies.
