Opposition parties' meeting: Will fight 2024 Lok Sabha polls together, say leaders after Patna huddle; next round in Shimla

At a joint press briefing that followed an opposition parties meeting in Patna on Friday, participating leaders said 17 opposition parties will fight the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections together to defeat the BJP. They said the next round of this first-of-its-kind meeting has been scheduled for next month, in Shimla.

One of the largest gatherings of its kind in recent years, the meeting in Patna brings together 18 opposition parties, carrying particular significance as the next general elections are only nine months away. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior party leader Rahul Gandhi have left for Patna, while former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, AAP Leaders Arvind Kejriwala and Raaghav Chaddha have reached the Bihar capital as top politicians from the Opposition parties gear up for key “anti-BJP" meeting.
