Reports of breach of data from CoWIN without any basis: Health ministry

The Union health ministry on Monday said reports claiming breach of data of beneficiaries registered on the CoWIN platform were "without any basis", and that it has requested the country's nodal cyber security agency CERT-In to look into the issue and submit a report.

One portal that was probably accessed by every last Indian citizen is now under scrutiny. The opposition has said that the information in the CoWIN portal were leaked and displayed on the portal. TMC spokesperson Saket Gokhale has taken to Twitter to allege a "major privacy breach by the Modi government" through the Covid-19 vaccination app CoWIN, stating that the "personal details of all vaccinated Indians including their mobile numbers, Aadhaar numbers, Passport numbers, Voter ID, and details of family members, have been leaked and are freely available".
