Meet Satish Kumar, First Dalit Chairman Of Railway Board – His Full Journey

Brian Shellum will be our guest for our August 28th podcast. Brian ran for Edmond Mayor in April 2023 and has a successful Edmond-based business. This summer, Brian was appointed by Governor Stitt to serve as the Chairman of the Oklahoma Statewide Charter School Board - a new Board which is a fusion of the State Charter School Board and the Board of Oklahoma's Virtual Charter schools. It met for the first time on July 6th. Right away, the Board was tasked with approving the controversial contract with the Catholic online school, St. Isadore, approved by the previous board but which the Supreme Court has ruled be rescinded. Brian will talk to us about his job on the Board and the issue of public money and religious schools.

Satish Kumar has been appointed as Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board, becoming the first Scheduled Caste appointee in history.
