Modi govt plans welfare measures for gig workers ahead of elections

India is planning to implement welfare measures for gig workers employed through platforms like Amazon, Uber, and India's Zomato, ahead of the country's early 2022 elections. The Social Security Code enacted in 2020 could entitle gig workers to accident, health, and retirement benefits.
