Luckily this weekend has plenty.

Cody melin is back this morning to break down all of this weekend's local events.

Cody, what's on the news 18 this morning weekend planner?

That's right sam and trevor.

Just a day of work seperates you from being stuck in the office and being able to kick back.

But don't get too comfy.

There's a lot to get out and do this weekend.

The holiday season is here and everyone deserves the opportunity to celebrate.

The folks over at cornerstone autism center want to give families in the area that chance.

The center is hosting its first ever sensory santa and gift wrapping event.

Children that are on the autism spectrum and may be sensitive to noises and crowds will have the evening the meet santa.

Cornerstone staff will be on-hand to help out parents in any way.

Phillipe (sal-a-day) sallade says events like this are meaningful for the community.

Phillipe: "it's important that we love on one another as a community, and one of the ways that we can do that are through activities like this."

The festive event runs from 2 to 5 p-m on saturday.

The evening is free and open to anyone in the community.

And while you're out celebrating the holidays, why not burn a few calories?

Put on your ugliest sweater and take to the streets of lafayette for the 'tis the season 3.1 ugly sweater walk and run 5-k.

All participants will get a medal for finishing the race.

And there's a purpose for those sweaters.

There will be prizes for the ugliest sweater along with the top three ugliest for both men and women.

The 5-k kicks off at 9 a-m this saturday.

Registration is open the morning of the race.

It's an exciting time to be a purdue men's basketball fan, especially after wednesday night's thrilling matchup against virginia.

But hey, the boilers still need a packed house to cheer them on to another win.

The gold and black are taking on northwestern this sunday to kick off big ten play.

Tickets are still available online for 75- dollars.

Tip off is set for 5 p-m.
