SCOTUS extends block on Trump financial records

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday gave President Donald Trump a boost by extending its hold on a lower court ruling that required his longtime accounting firm to hand over his financial records to a Democratic-led House of Representatives committee.

SCOTUS extends block on Trump financial records

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday granted Trump's request that - for now - prevents his longtime accounting firm from handing over his financial records to Congress.

That's until the justices decide whether to hear Trump's appeal of a lower court ruling to comply with the subpoena for the records.

Trump has until Dec.

5 to file his appeal.

The action by the justices suggests that there is a good chance they will take up Trump's appeal in his fight with the Democratic-led House Oversight Committee... but does not guarantee it.

The fight over Trump's financial records is part of a larger struggle between the president and House Democrats who have moved forward with an impeachment inquiry.
