BCCI authorizes Indian captain and coach to decide WAGs time
In an unusual policy change, the BCCI has authorized the Indian captain and coach to decide upon specific player requests for extra family time for WAGS on tour.
A decision to this effect was taken by the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA).
COA decided that: (a) The authority to approve any visits from visitors outside the Visitor Period should vest with the Team Captain and Coach, and; (b) This should be reflected in the Family Clause of the Playersâ Contracts,â read minutes of a meeting held on May 21st.
Over the years it has been the BCCI dispensation that has framed a uniform visiting window for playersâ WAGS to be on tour.
During the recently concluded World Cup, playersâ families were given a fifteen-day window after the first 20 days of departure from India.
