Federal appeals court rules man accused of sexual violence can proceed with lawsuit against Purdue

In a ruling filed on June 28, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit said John may have been unfairly treated by Purdue University based off his sex.

3 a ruling by the united states court of appeals allows a purdue student accused of sexual violence to continue his lawsuit against the university.it was previously denied by a u-s district court judge.john doe was suspended from purdue for a year and lost his navy r-o-t-c scholarship.the u.s. court of appeals said john may have been unfairly treated by purdue based off his sex.john doe sued purdue in 20-17.he said he could not fairly defend himself to an advisory committee on equity or dean of students katie sermersheim.the court's reasoning included that members of the committee admitted they didn't read the investigative report and wouldn't allow john to have a witness.the ruling said his accuser, named as jane doe, did not appear before the committee, and a statement was never provided.

In fact, that she was credible at all ?

Without ever speaking to her in person ..."

3 as news 18 previously reported, both john doe and jane doe were students in purdue's navy r-o-t-c program.

The two began dating in the fall of 20-15.in december, john said jane attempted suicide in front of him.he reported it, and she became upset and started dating someone else.four months later, jane reported john groped her in november of 20-15.john denies the allegations.
