Airport Boarding Secrets For Better Travel

From overbooked flights, security line delays and gate changes, traveling can be stressful.

But Business Insider chatted with airline employees and a travel expert about the best-kept boarding secrets.

Their advice to have a better travel experience includes: 1.

Be kind to your gate agent.

It can go a long way Tom Spagnola, senior vice president of Supplier Relations at CheapOair admits, "Many times, I've seen gate agents upgrade passengers into business or first class because they were shown respect and compassion..." 2.

Become a frequent flier and show loyalty to one airline.

Airlines often prioritize frequent fliers when upgrades are available.

3.

Help accommodate families that are traveling together, especially when flights are oversold.

Spagnola says, "I've done this myself many times, and have been put into business or first class when there was availability." 4.

If you miss your connecting flight, suggest traveling on another air carrier Business Insider explains, "Airline agents don't like to advertise this option because they will lose money for switching your ticket to another carrier, but it's still an option for you."
