Eight Of The Surviving Apollo Astronauts Gather For 50th Anniversary Moon Landing Event

To mark the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing, 8 of the 17 surviving Apollo astronauts gathered in New York City.

The group included Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins from Apollo 11, Apollo 7's Walter Cunningham, and Rusty Schweickart from Apollo 9.

Buzz Aldrin wowed the crowd with a dazzling suit covered in a spaceship print, patriotic socks and rings on every finger.

NASA's Apollo program ran 17 missions, which are best known for putting the first men on the moon in 1969.
