The Kerala government has decided to impose strict lockdown in places where the number of COVID cases currently remains high.

Kerala continues to register a record number of COVID-19 infections with the state reporting 29,322 new cases and 131 deaths on Friday.

The state has to be extra vigilant for the next four weeks. An emergency meeting of the health department was called on Tuesday morning, George said.

Notably, the Kerala government relaxed new lockdown norms just hours after the state reported 50% of the daily new Covid cases in the country.
