Ajit Kumar Doval is an Indian bureaucrat and former spymaster, who is currently serving as the National Security Advisor since 2014. A former Indian Police Service officer of the Kerala cadre, he had previously served as Director of the Intelligence Bureau in 2004â05, after heading its operations wing for a decade.
Malti Doval is one of his siblings.
As a spy and an intelligence officer, he worked as an undercover spy of the IB for a year in Pakistan, after which he served for six years as an officer in the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. Doval was involved in Operation Black Thunder in 1988, the extrication of 46 Indian nationals in Iraq, Operation Hot Pursuit in 2015, the sabotage of the PFI and many other Indian intelligence and military operations. He founded the Vivekananda International Foundation in 2009, a right-wing think tank which he headed until his appointment as NSA.
